BROKEN PLAY
Birmingham Rebels #1
Samantha Kane
Releasing Sept 1st, 2015

Perfect for fans of Shayla Black and Lexi Blake, the deeply sensual new Birmingham Rebels series introduces an unforgettable team of chiseled football gods—and the daring, provocative games they play behind closed doors.

Birmingham Rebels offensive linemen Beau Perez and Cass Zielinski are inseparable, on and off the field. Cass, the captain with the cowboy swagger, is a loose cannon. Beau, the veteran tight end, is cool under pressure. And ever since they were caught on tape in a steamy threesome, their exploits have fueled more than a few tabloid headlines—and naughty fantasies.

Marian Treadwell knows all about the video. And now that she’s the Rebels’ new assistant offensive coach, she can’t look at Beau and Cass without picturing their hard, naked bodies—with her pressed in between. Marian would like nothing more than to indulge those impulses, but she knows better than to get too close to her players, a bunch of adrenaline-fueled alpha males who don’t always follow the rules.

Just the thought of sharing the gorgeous yet guarded Marian drives Cass wild. At first, Beau isn’t sure she’s right for them . . . and lately, all he desires is a little alone time with Cass to explore their new intimacy. But it’s only a matter of time before Cass breaks through both of their defenses. Because when seduction is the game plan, he always plays to win.

Broken Play is intended for mature audiences.

This was my first time reading Samantha Kane and it won't be my last.

The dynamics between Cass and Beau are good, they come as a package deal. They balance each other, with Beau being the laid-back, caring type as opposed to Cass' alpha, who is demanding to the point of being a jerk sometimes. Even though they're definite opposites, we get to see them grow as characters, and I liked the fact that they actually discussed their feelings and plans when it came to Marian.

Marian is a rarity, a female assistant for an NFL team, she's already got more to prove that she knows what she's doing when it comes to having the current job she has, she doesn't want anything negative to draw any further attention to herself, and regardless of how she carries herself, she does have something in her past that she is keeping quiet, and even though she's keeping it secret, the team does realize there is more to Marian than meets the eye.

The story moves along at a good pace, and the sexy times are plenty hot. My one issue with this story is that close to the end of the book, Cass and Beau decide to take matters into their own hands and "help" Marian deal with the issue from her past. Which could be a good thing, but the way the author chose for it to happen? Yeah, not so much. I just don't see how that is supposed to help someone get over what happened. I would have preferred for that scene to have taken place in a much more normal way (if there's even a way for that to be done in a normal way lol). Believe it or not, that actually did kind of turn me off the book a bit. I still finished it because it did occur so close to the end of the story; if that had taken place earlier, there is a definite chance this would have been a DNF for me.

Overall, I liked the characters we got to meet in this book, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
