About The Fixer: He’s known only as Wren. A wealthy, dangerously secretive man, he specializes in making problems disappear. A professional fixer, Wren hides a dark past, but his privacy is shattered when Emery Finn seeks him out—and what she wants from him is very personal.

Some people disappear against their will. Emery’s job is to find them and bring closure. Wren is the only person who can help solve Emery’s own personal mystery: the long-ago disappearance of her cousin. Just tracking down the sexy, brooding Wren is difficult enough. Resisting her body’s response to him will prove completely impossible.

Anonymity is essential to Wren’s success, yet drawn by Emery’s loyalty and sensuality, he’s pulled out of the shadows. But her digging is getting noticed by the wrong people. And as the clues start to point to someone terrifyingly close, Wren will have to put his haunted past aside to protect the woman he loves.

So this was my first HelenKay Dimon book and I loved this from start to finish. Emery is a young woman who has managed to turn the tragic disappearance of her cousin over a decade earlier into a passion helping other families learn what happened to their loved ones who've suffered a similar fate. Her search for her long-missing cousin has led her to the mysterious Wren. She's convinced he had something to do with her cousin's disappearance and is doing what she can to find him.

Wren is the person people, businesses, and countries turn to when they need to have particular problems disappear. As much as he prefers to live his life in shadows, Emery's continued search for him brings him into the light. But once they've come together, feelings that weren't anticipated begin to surface.

Wren is all too familiar with the pain that comes from having a loved one go missing with no resolution. Although in his case he knows exactly what happened to his loved one, but he had to settle for revenge in a different way.

The chemistry between Emery and Wren is palpable from the start, as much as they both try to deny it. There's something about Emery that calls to Wren on some level that he can't explain, and he soon finds he's doing things that go against the very nature of his life and business. Emery has a strength that's to be admired, she does what she can to get justice for other families, and has no issue going up against Wren, although when they first meet she doesn't know that's who he is. I was actually surprised that for a grown woman, she knows how her father is yet still subjects herself to dealing with him once a week. She knows he sees her as a disappointment, yet she still has a weekly dinner with him. I've only got one parent left and if my dad felt that way about me, I have zero problems not being around that type of negativity.

Wren is adorably awkward, and while his second in command and best friend Garrett lets him know, he doesn't really get it until he lets Emery into his world. She's the only one who will call him out on it, but she also learns to accept it and even finds it, for a lack of better word, cute. I do wish we were told if Wren was always like this, or is his behavior is a result of his experiences as an adult. I will say that when it came to the sexy times for Wren and Emery, he certainly wasn't awkward then.

I figured out halfway through the book who the perpetrator was, although by the clues provided it could have gone a different way. I was surprised by the reason for what happened, and the callous way for the disposal. I appreciated that Wren didn't beat around the bush when it came to telling Emery the truth, even if she did lash out at him unfairly because of the shock of the news. He understood better than anyone why she reacted like she did. There's a somewhat unconventional HEA, but it works for Wren and Emery.
