Good heavens, I don't even know what to say about this book, other than when you read this (and honestly, why wouldn't you read it?) just empty your mind of any preconceived ideas you might have based on the synopsis, because by the time you get to the end of the book, you won't even know what hit you. There are three main characters: Syler, his sister Toska and Jaya. All three are broken in their own ways, and the interactions between them had me feeling equally drained and somehow cringey at the same time. It's been a minute or 10 since I've read a T.L. Smith book and I let my guard down, but I've since learned my lesson when it comes to a new title by Ms. Smith and I vow to make sure I've blocked an appropriate amount of time in order to restore my mental faculties after finishing her books. Would I recommend this book? Absolutely! But only if you're already familiar with her work, because she's somehow managed to take this story a step further into the land of insanity.
