BREAK by New York Times Bestselling Author Cassia Leo
is out now and #FREE in Kindle Unlimted! Read it now!

Synopsis

A humorous and heartbreaking second-chance stand-alone romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the Shattered Hearts Series.

For six years, she was the only one. My best friend. My kitten. My world.
Then, I broke us by getting caught in a web of lies. Hard to believe, after everything we’d been through, I could do what I did to her… in front of 600,000 people.
I doubt she’ll ever believe I did it because I love her.
Three years later, my music career is booming. I have a movie deal in the next comic book reboot. And now the only parent I have left has been given a death sentence. I have to go home, but going home means facing what I did to her.

Oh man, I enjoyed the hell out of this book! I'm a sucker for a second chance at love story, and the way the relationship between Ben and Charley imploded three years prior the book's start meant there would need to be some serious groveling and explaining.

It was obvious from the start that Ben isn't necessarily a bad guy; even though it's his first time in Bodega Bay in three years, you know his heart is in the right place by the small gestures he makes with those who were once closest to him. I gotta admit though, I (along with everyone else) couldn't wait to find out why Ben dumped Charley the way he did. The story is told in both past and present scenes, so we get to see the evolution of the friendship to something more for Charley and Ben when they were teens, along with Ben's journey on the path to making it in the entertainment industry. I wasn't prepared for the bombshell that was dropped when we finally learned what happened with Ben, and that was the subsequent reason why he broke up with Charley the way he did.

I was glad he finally took the stand he did, and how it worked out, but I do wish there had been some closure about what happened with the perpetrators. I would like to know exactly why the perp felt it necessary to have recording devices in certain places when it came to Ben's and Charley's relationship. I couldn't fault Charley's reaction when she received the newest email, but I was surprised who seemed to be on Ben's side after the latest monkey wrench thrown in their relationship. A good ending for this story, although I was sad for Ben and his dad, and the fact that Ben was all alone during that pivotal moment. I liked the secondary characters we got to meet in this book, and I'm hoping there will be stories for those characters sometime in the future.
