Really enjoyed this story, although it took me a while to actually warm up to Zed; from the start, I just couldn't understand his brusque behavior, but the more I read the more it began to make sense. And then I felt bad because of how much and for how long he's still punishing himself. Even without knowing the cause of his behavior at the start of the book, I could totally empathize with his choices regarding the event in the first chapter; I wouldn't want something like that event jeopardizing my business and livelihood.
Octavia finds herself disillusioned by her life and the way it's not turning out like she envisioned, especially given the current situation she finds in herself, when it comes to the law firm she works for and the son of a client, which is how she and Zed end up meeting.
I liked the chemistry between these two, but goodness, they refused to admit their feelings about each other; but that is what kept me engaged and wanting to see how they would manage to work through their respective issues and how they'd help one another accept the way things in life are, and how they reached their HEA.
