“OMG!! This book is AMAZING!! The drama and turmoil the characters go through feel so real that you have to know what will happen next. Definitely, a must read!”
From the moment we met, I despised Leah as much as she hated me. It only made matters worse when my mother became involved with her father. So, ten years ago, I moved away. But when I come back for the big anniversary party, the rivalry has disappeared and we're being congratulated for putting aside our differences. What they don't know is that if I get my way, tonight we'll be sharing a room…
From the moment we met, I did everything to get Logan's attention. All that he'd direct toward me were mean pranks often leaving me in tears. Even when he left for ten years, I still tried to get his attention. It took me a long time before I finally gave up. When Logan shows up unannounced for the big anniversary party, I expect the worst case of rivalry yet, but instead, we're actually getting along, and everyone is thrilled. And when I end up finding out the truth of why he is back, it shocks me to my core.
This was my first S.L. Sterling book, I liked the overall premise for a stepbrother/forbidden romance story, but for me the dialogue just didn't have a natural flow and that sort of took away my enjoyment of the story.
Logan and Leah knew each other in high school, but things changed between them when their parents began dating and got married. Of course neither child was thrilled with the new situation, but I swear Logan acted like a 3-year old instead of a young man on the verge of graduating and going to college. I was shocked that of the couple of pranks we learn that he pulled on Leah, didn't get into more trouble, especially the fake online profile.
There was plenty of push and pull between Leah and Logan once they're back in the same orbit 10 years later, although Logan didn't have the right reaction to what went down between them; I didn't blame Leah for not wanting Logan to know where she was after she scored a new job. Of course that new job led to them once again having to be around each other, and big props to Leah for wanting to keep it on a professional level only.
I was surprised that it was Logan who spilled the beans to his mom about what went down between them and his feelings for Leah, but I liked that he did it, and wanted the help he needed when it came to Leah. I liked the way the story wrapped up for these two, and I would like to read this author's work in the future, if the dialogue could have a more natural flow.
