This was my first time reading K.L. Donn and I am stunned by the fact that I've deprived myself of her stories all this time! I absolutely LOVED Cage and Magnolia. Yeah, this story has that touch of insta-something, but the writing is so well done and C&M are such a great fit you don't even realize how quick their relationship evolves.

Goodness knows, neither Cage nor Magnolia had a happy childhood, and their respective upbringing definitely shaped the people we meet in this story. My heart broke for Magnolia and the events she experienced, I probably would have collapsed into a blobby heap after the first traumatic event, and then to experience another catastrophic event not even a year later? I'd most likely be catatonic. Cage on the other hand? External forces pretty much shaped his life from a younger age, and he's extremely skilled at his chosen career path lol.

The only issues I had with this story is the inclusion of some of the secondary characters, specifically their backstories; there are 3 secondary character couples mentioned in this book, but I was only able to figure out books pertaining to two of the secondary couples, and I really want to know more about Torres and his potential romance.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and will be reading more K.L Donn in the future.
