She means those words to be directed toward the woman beside her, not him. But he can’t stop himself from answering. Not when her ass is the most magnificent thing he’s seen in his life.
Apparently, answering her with ‘not a damn thing’ wasn’t what she was expecting.
She likely wasn’t expecting the baseball she took to the face at his next at bat, either.
All it takes is one ill-fated foul ball, and George Hoffman, Lumberjacks center fielder, falls head over
heels in love with Wrigley Field—and yes, that is her real name.
From that point forward, George and Wrigley fall into a fast whirlwind love that ends with them eloping to Vegas. And he has his potty mouth, titty bar owning, pain in the ass grandmother to thank for it.
Not that he’s complaining or anything.
Who wouldn’t want to be married to a woman that made his heart race like he was in the final game of the World Series?
The only problem is trying to convince her of that.
This is one helluva fantastic LLV book! This story has easily moved into my top 3 favorites written by LLV, and that's saying something because of the sheer number of books she's written over the last few years.
The chemistry between George and Wrigley is so electric and hot right from the start, it's easy to see how smitten they are with each other; their relationship feels natural almost from the beginning. Of course there are a couple of outside influences that help propel them towards a HEA: a sneaky grandmama with a big heart, a trip to Vegas and liquor. Yay! Everyone's happy and loving life right?
If you've ever read LLV, you know the road to the HEA is about as smooth as a jar of chunky peanut butter, and unfortunately George's and Wrigley's idyllic life comes to a sudden and divisive end. What makes this even more angsty is what caused the implosion and the aftermath of what happened. I was anxious to see how things would turn out for these two, yet at the same time I was worried that things might not go like I wanted. Add to the fact that again, more outside influences that could have a negative impact on their relationship only ramped up the tension.
This story is full of emotion, both good and bad, with a couple that could be people you know in real life, and you'll find yourself rooting for everything to turn out in a positive way for George and Wrigley, because it's blindingly obvious they are meant to be together!
