This was my first time reading Carrie Elks, and I had high hopes for this story based on the blurb; however, what I got left me so incredibly frustrated and ready to throw my e-reader I had to step back from reading for a couple of days to calm down.

When I say that Tanner Harston had me absolutely livid throughout this book, I don't think I can emphasize that enough. LIVID I tell you. I get being scared of rejection; I'm sure there's quite a few people in the world who don't want to be rejected, but do treat the one person who means the most to you because you're too much of a punkass to be honest like she's nothing more than dog poop on the bottom of your shoe is whole new level of WTFery. With a hefty side dish of throat punching. If she was "the love of his life" he should have known why she couldn't go to Duke with him, and then to say the things he said and did when she shows up? So grossly unforgivable. And then to act like it's all her fault after she learns the truth about her father? Ugh, I can't even with him.

Van isn't entirely faultless either, but the miscommunications between these two was enough to make my head feel like it wanted to pop right off my neck.
