This is the second book in a duet series and although I hadn't read the first book, it was still easy to understand the dynamics between the characters that I met.

As is the case, there's always one (or both) main characters that have been hurt so bad in a past relationship that they categorically emphasize they will NEVER risk their heart again, and we get that with both Porter and Kaya; granted, once we learn what happened in each of their prior relationships, it makes sense why they make that declaration. Plus, given the nature of their respective careers, I could see how it would be hard to maintain a romantic relationship.

She lives with her high school sweetheart husband and is driven mad daily by her two teenage boys, but her princess dog is her favorite child and kind of makes up for the testosterone flying around her house.
