About Stacy Reid:

  stacy-reid

I am an avid reader of novels with a deep passion for writing. From an early age, I started writing short stories for pleasure. I knew the dozens of romance novels I devoured were onto something when I met my husband at fifteen and fell in love after a week! Life got in the way and I stopped writing for years. Then at the age of twenty-six with a degree in Human Resource Management, I decided to focus on my passion—writing. I especially love romance and adore writing sensually hot paranormal fantasy, historical and contemporary stories. I live a lot in the worlds I create and I actively speak to my characters (out loud). I have a warrior way “never give up on my dream.” When I am not writing, I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese Anime and playing video games with my love—Dusean.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW - Blackmailing the Bad Girl (Cutting Loose #2) by Nina Croft

Today we have the blog tour stop for Blackmailing the Bad Girl by Nina Croft! Check it out and grab your copy today!

About Blackmailing the Bad Girl:

Cynical CEO, Nik Masterton, believes he’s finally met a woman who isn’t interested in his money…until she vanishes with a hefty amount of it. He’s been searching for her ever since and has finally found her doing a stint in Holloway prison for stealing...from someone else. Clearly, he’s just one of many. Now she’s coming out, and it’s time for a little payback.

After two years in prison, Summer Delaney is determined she’s never going back. While she had good reasons for doing what she did, it’s time to move on to a new life and earn an honest living. Unfortunately, there’s a glitch in her plan, and he’s waiting at the gate as she comes out.

Nik isn’t above using blackmail to make Summer work for him until he decides just how he’ll get his revenge. But this time they’re both determined to keep their distance. Right until the inconvenient attraction explodes between them...

I found this to be an entertaining story, although I wish we'd gotten more about the circumstances that led to Summer's decision to do what she did that eventually led to her having to go to prison (not easy to review and not give out any spoilers lol). Despite Nik's resolve to not be suckered in by another woman, there's something about Summer that has him forgetting his personal vow. Summer comes off as standoffish, but given the last few years of her life, it's easy to understand why that is. I like that she's adamant about protecting her loved ones and that she truly does want them to be happy. The one other issue I would have liked more information on is the part concerning Trenton Industries and Nik's involvement with how that played out.

About Nina Croft:

Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever. Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home. Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

RELEASE BLITZ - Talk British to Me (Wherever You Go Series) by Robin Bielman

Talk British to Me, an all-new sexy STANDALONE romance
from Robin Bielman is now LIVE!

Talk British to Me by Robin Bielman
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis

As the Dating Guy on L.A.’s top morning show, I give the single guy’s perspective on dating, love, and sex—and I give great advice. Everyone’s hooking up…well, except for me. Sure, I can get any woman I want, but I’ve got a “no relationship” clause in my contract and the only woman I want has “relationship” written all over her. Probably stamped on her ass, too. And wouldn’t I like to confirm that.

Unfortunately, she wants nothing to do with me. At all. Something about the next Ice Age might have even come up in her rebuttal. Adorable. Because she’s determined to ignore what one simple kiss proved: she wants me as badly as I want her.

Everything in me is screaming to go after her, but I’ve got a secret that I’m fairly certain will end up with her roasting my nuts over an open fire. So, job on the line? Check. Nuts on the line? Check. Can’t get her out of my head? Nail…meet coffin. But what a way to go…

I read this book in just the span of a few hours and loved every minute of it! This is my first Robin Bielman book and now I'm wondering how it is that I've not read her work prior to this.

As much I like Teague and her genuine openness, I gotta say that Mateo is the best part of this book! He is one of the best male lead characters I've read lately, probably somewhere in my top 6 favorites. Mateo is pretty open about his desire for Teague almost from the start, but he also quickly realizes that she's not a one-and-done type young woman, but that doesn't stop him from wanting to spend time with her. But the fact that we get to actually see their relationship develop over the course of the book is fantastic. Another point in favor of Mateo is that despite his hotness (and he sounds pretty freakin' delicious), we're not subjected to a slew of females vying for his attention, so he doesn't come across as a manwhore. Granted his job and the stipulations are pretty unique, but the focus of this story is his evolving friendship with Teague.

I will say that the "breakup" wasn't all that shocking, I was surprised that's how it went down though. But I could see it from Mateo's perspective because he couldn't say anything. I enjoyed the whole wedding scene, and can't wait to find out what's going to happen with Madison, hopefully in a future book. The secondary characters bring just enough balance to the story without taking over, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Levi and Harper are the featured players of the next book, especially given the animosity that seemed to flow between them at the end of this book. And I love how the story wrapped up for Teague and Mateo and the new journey they're about to embark on. This is one book I highly recommend!

Excerpt

My cell pings with an incoming text as I approach the garage elevator, so I’m not exactly paying attention when I hear the elevator arrive and sense someone step out. I think I walk around the person, but my shoulder bumps hers.
The delicate feel of her has me jerking my head up.
“Sorry,” we say at the same time.
She’s holding a box piled high with envelopes that partially block her face. I don’t know if it’s from our slight collision or a natural misstep, but the box wobbles in her hands. She sucks in a breath. I slip my arm under the box to help keep it from tipping over, but that seems to make it worse, because the next thing I know, the envelopes are spilling out onto the ground.
“Son of a biscuit!” she says, unable to stop the box from crashing down but keeping herself on both feet.
I burst out laughing.
Hear me out. The “son of a biscuit” is damn adorable. I’ve never heard anyone actually use it before. But better still, the beautiful creature spewing such foul language is none other than the girl who dumped chicken wings on me. Teague.
“I’m glad you find this so—”
She stalls, finally meeting my eyes. Recognition crosses her face as she scrunches up her cute little nose in annoyance.
“Amusing?” I finish for her.
She opens her mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. The two of us running into each other again is pretty unbelievable. She huffs out a breath that’s a mixture of contempt and surprise.
“I’m just as surprised as you, baby.”
This time the sound she makes from the back of her throat is pure disgust. She drops to all fours to gather the envelopes back into the box.
I bend down to help, reaching for envelopes while never taking my eyes off her. She’s pissed about more than the dropped cargo. “Bad day?” I say.
She glares at me.
“I’m sorry about bumping you. I was looking down at my phone and thought I had plenty of room.” Picture a hot girl with blue eyes so kind she couldn’t look daggers no matter how hard she tried. That’s what I’m privileged enough to be staring at now. The corners of my mouth pull up involuntarily. Her mouth, while set in a tight line, is sexy as fuck, those generous lips of hers distracting. “Seriously, Teague, I’m sorry.”
Her expression goes from hard to soft instantly. She sits back on her haunches, puts her hands on her thighs. “You remember my name?”

This is the second book by Victoria Davies I've read, and I actually liked this one better than the first (Right Billionaire, Wrong Wedding). I liked this one because of the dynamics between the 3 key players in the book. I enjoyed the interactions between Caleb and Hailey, their shopping excursion was hilarious that somehow turned sexy. I will admit that I was surprised when the truth about what happened between Caleb and Alex all those years ago finally came out. Surprised that Alex went that far with his retribution towards someone he considered a brother. It pretty much all came down to both Alex and Caleb believing that they always played second fiddle to the other, not realizing the strengths they each possessed on their own, and those beliefs morphed into a bit of jealousy. I felt horrible for Hailey once she learned the truth, and what Caleb did was terrible, but Alex really wasn't any better. I do hope we get a story about Alex, since we didn't hear any more about him once he helped to get Hailey to see Caleb, but a good wrap up for this unexpected love story.

Excerpt:

“I’m attracted to men of substance. Guess that rules you out.”

“But not my rival. Alec is your paragon of honor, isn’t he?”

“He’s an excellent man,” she agreed.

“One you just wish would walk over to your desk and sweep you off your feet, carrying you out into the sunset.”

“I’d probably break his back, and we’d both end up on the floor.”

His gaze raked down her body. “I’d be willing to risk it.”

“Luckily, you’ll never have to.”

His eyes returned to hers. “Why not just tell him?” he asked. “Confess your undying devotion and see what he does?”

She knew what he’s do. He’d get flustered trying to figure out how to tell her he didn’t return her affections. She wasn’t petite or blond, two things all his previous paramours had in common.

She wasn’t pursuing a career in acting, and she didn’t have trouble calculating the percentage of a tip. Worse, she didn’t come from old money the way Caleb and Alec did. She hadn’t grown up in that privileged world, didn’t understand the deeply ingrained rules. Alec had said more than once that when he settled down, it’d be to make a good alliance for his family. Keep all that lovely money in the right bloodlines.

No, she was nothing like the woman he would eventually fall in love with.

Not that logic stopped her from wishing for the impossible every now and then.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“All right.” Caleb straightened from the bar. “Why don’t I go ask him these questions and see what he thinks?”

Her fingers sank into his arm before he could move.

“Don’t.”

The movement had been a mistake. An admission. A certainty filled his expression that hadn’t been there a moment ago.

She shook her head, knowing she was steering toward a cliff. “What do you want?” What would buy his silence?

“I want many things,” he said, swirling the liquor in his glass. “Chief among them is you.”

“It’s just because you love the chase,” she said, rolling her eyes. “We’d never work.”

“Maybe,” he replied with a shrug. “But it’d be fun to try.”

“I’m not sleeping with you in order to keep your mouth shut.”

“I don’t remember asking you to.”

She resisted the urge to stamp her foot. “Then what are you asking?”

“I’m going to make you a bet,” he said, his eyes capturing hers. “Give me one month.”

“To do what?”

“Make you fall in love with me.”

Author Info:

Victoria Davies’s passion for writing started young. Luckily she had a family who encouraged believing in magic and embracing imagination. From stories quickly scribbled in diaries, her love of storytelling developed. Since then her characters may have evolved and her plots may have grown decidedly more steamy but she never lost her love of the written word. Writing is not only a way to silence the wonderful voices in her head, but it also allows her to share her passions with her readers.

About Jenna Bayley-Burke:

By day, Jenna is faster than a speeding toddler, stronger than a stubborn husband, able to leap tall Lego structures in a single bound...but by night, while the family sleeps she writes romance novels where no one ever has to scoop up after the dog, change diapers, clip coupons, drive carpool, do laundry, mop floors, get silly putty out of hair, vacuum, empty the vacuum bag (gross!), exercise, count calories, apply bandaids, clean up puke...wait where was this going? Oh, Jenna writes romance because it is glamorous. Just ask the dog.
