Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella.
Defy is a prequel to Vicious (Sinners of Saint #1).
It is recommended, but unnecessary, to read Defy before reading Vicious.

This is one of the best, hottest forbidden romances I've read in a while. If I thought Vicious knew how to bring it in the bedroom, Jamie just literally left him in the dust, because DAMN, Jamie is all kinds of smexy hot! Reading this, I had to keep remembering that Jamie is the younger one in the relationship, because he definitely knows how to work it like it's his job. Even though this is a novella, there's still some angst in the story, some of it courtesy of Vicious, but not all. I do wish there'd been more to the story when the confrontation in the principal's office and the resulting fallout that happened, I feel like that was wrapped up a bit quickly. But that wasn't enough to keep me from loving this book, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.

Aut Banks is brilliant bad boy with a chip on his shoulder. Mrs. Macmillan is a substitute teacher way in over her head. When they're forced to work together, the sexual tension is off the charts. This story was originally part of an anthology, so for constraint reasons this isn't a long story (I had it read in about an hour), but it's still an entertaining and sexy hot read. I wouldn't necessarily call Aut a bad boy, but he does excel at the dirty talk, which I found to be both really hot yet weird at the same time because what 18 year old talks like that? Regardless of his childhood, he does have a plan to do something with his life, he won't be that character that just drifts through life. Everything's going well for him until he meets the new substitute teacher, Mrs. McMillan.

The chemistry between them is eleven kinds of hot, although Aut is careful not to overstep boundaries. Somewhere along the way things change between them when he realizes how her husband treats her, but all bets are off when his mom finally tells a secret she's been keeping for 18 years. Lust gives way to anger revenge which gives way to...something more?

I liked that Aut was extremely mature for his age, and that he had a plan for his life. Most 18 year olds aren't that focused. Maise's marriage is anything but harmonious bliss, but she too has a plan. What neither of them expected was the feelings that they shared for each other. A second plan for revenge is soon set into motion, leading the way to a HEA for Aut and Maise.
