Going through an apocalyptic event doesn't mean the end of the world. 

My dad is a modern day Noah, you know building an ark, trying to save folks and getting my brother, and I ready for the impending end of days – whatever that means. 

Nothing in his prepper manuals had us ready for what actually happened. 

I had nothing to prepare me for Jaeden and Lachlan. Heck, I don’t know of any girl that would have been prepared for those two.

There was nothing to prepare us for the things that go bump in the night or zombies, although now that I think on it, zombies might have been easier to deal with than what really happened. No, an apocalyptic event is just a set-up for things in our world to be shaken AND stirred. 

What will rise from the ruins remains to be seen.

REVIEW:

So this is an interesting book, but that's not a bad thing. I know people want to automatically compare this to her Fae Chronicles series, but please remember that this is NOT like the Fae Chronicles...hmm, I feel a blog post coming on about that subject, but I digress.

Our heroine is Emma, whose father has been regarded as their town's crazy person because of he's a doomsday prepper. Lo and behold, an epidemic sweeps across the globe and much of the world's population is wiped out (and just when this whole Ebola thing is in the news!). Anyway, while on patrol, Emma encounters a person of a mysterious nature who manages to affect Emma (with lust, not the "Pacers Flu"). 

Anyway (part 2), mystery man saves Emma more than once and doesn't hesitate to let her know he wants her. And as much as she wants to find the cannoli with him, she's not ready to give up that card yet. But fear not, readers of this review, because Jaeden ain't that accustomed to hearing "no". And so begins the dance between Emma and Jaeden. While dealing with the repercussions of the the new world that has emerged since the Pacers Flu (again, not Ebola) has decimated the world's population.

The chemistry between Emma and Jaeden is excellent, although I would have preferred that he didn't push quite so much to try and get her in bed (apparently he hasn't learned that NO means NO, in any language!). The secondary characters are pretty decent as well, Ms. Hutchins managed to capture both their strengths and weaknesses, which in my opinion makes it a more believable story. You know, if paranormal creatures really did exist.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series.
