BLOG TOUR REVIEW & GIVEAWAY - Tempted by a Vampire (Immortal Hearts of San Francisco) by Susan Griscom

Title: Tempted by a Vampire
Series: Immortal Hearts of San Francisco
Author: Susan Griscom
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Published: October 27, 2015

Cian DeMarco, a sexy, rockstar billionaire vampire has lived in San Francisco's prestigious Cliff Side neighborhood in his beautiful mansion overlooking both the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean for seventy years. Happily—or so he thought. Until the rare beauty that is Magdalena De la Rosa sits down at one of the front-row tables in Club Royal where he and his band perform once a week.

Magdalena De la Rosa has it all—Bachelor's degree in journalism, a job she loves in California, a gorgeous apartment in San Francisco, and a dream guy. Except her boyfriend lives and works in Sacramento—an hour and a half drive from the city Magdalena has always fantasized about living in. All her dreams change, however, when she and her girlfriend find their way into an upscale nightclub and she's suddenly swept off her feet by the lead singer of that night's performing rock band, The Lost Boys.

Sparks ignite between the two until a threat that was thought to no longer exist returns to wreak havoc on Cian's and Magdalena's lives. Will the temptation to be together outweigh the reality of what Cian must do to keep Magdalena safe from harm?

A stand-alone book. The first in the all-new Immortal Hearts of San Francisco series. 18+ due to adult content.

This was my first time reading anything by Susan Griscom and I found that I enjoyed the way she writes. This is a pretty standard paranormal romance with a couple (or 3) twists thrown in for good measure. I did find myself rolling my eyes at certain parts of the story, but those instances could just nothing more than my overactive brain thinking way too hard. There were also a few questions that were never fully resolved (at least for me they weren't). Since this is the first book in the series, I'm kind of hoping that these questions will be answered in a later story:

- Why didn't Jewels stick around that fateful night?
- What happened with Kellen?

I will admit that my eyes were stuck on rolling at the start of the story with Magdalena and her thoughts and actions when it came to Kellen. She was just too naive when it came to him; at least she got it together relatively early in the story about their relationship and made the right decision.

Magdalena is a decent enough character; there's really nothing about her to dislike. Cian on the other hand, is a great book boyfriend, even if he is a vampire. He's hot (in the looks sense, not the body temperature sense) but sweet and caring. Which is vastly different than how vampires are perceived and written about. He's really, really into Magdalena, to the point of sacrificing himself to save her. Who doesn't want a man like that? And he sings too!

I really enjoyed this story, and I'm hoping we get to learn more about the other characters we got to meet that are a part of Magdalena's and Cian's world.

5 vampire fangy stars!!! I can’t even put into enough words to say how much I fell in love with this book. The story was captivating and I was sucked (no pun intended) in!! - Alpha Book Club
Cian DeMarco is a 10 on the hotness scale. I had to keep fanning myself countless times. I fell under his spell right from the first chapter and was helpless to stop it. The steamy scenes with him left me breathless and of course wanting more. Not only is he a bad boy rocker and vampire, but he is also a man with depth and an inner pain that haunts him. He is definitely book boyfriend material and one I will never forget. -  Reading For Fun
I am blown away by this book. I am so obsessed with Cian and Mags. The perfect combination of a sexy, dark brooding rocker and the sweet lovable girl, throw in the fact that the rocker is also a Vampire and you have the formula for a perfect book. This did not disappoint! - Momma Says Read
I stood at the top of the Golden Gate Bridge. The city was beautiful this time of the morning, a couple of hours before sunrise. I’d been resolute in my control to not stalk Magdalena. However, my self-control was slipping, and I knew it was only a matter of time before I would lose the battle. Standing here at the top of the bridge with her bedroom window in my sights wasn’t helping.

I ached to see her, to touch her, to inhale her sweet, delicious scent. Tomorrow night couldn’t come soon enough.

My foot slipped and I began to fall, flashing into space, and soon I found myself on the ledge of Magdalena’s building. Damnit. Five short steps and I’d officially lower myself to creepy stalker status. I’d never stalked a woman. I know of several vampires who do, however. Lane is not one, thankfully. At least not that I knew of, and I’m sure he would have told me. I’ve never had the desire to just sit and stare at a woman before. Not until Magdalena entered Club Royal last Saturday night. Her scent had been strong, and it had pulled me closer.

The next thing I knew, I was standing outside her window, watching her sleep. I’d heard rumors of vampires meeting their soulmates. Someone whose scent drove them insane, so crazy that they couldn’t stay away from them no matter how hard they tried. Causing them to do things they wouldn’t normally do. In all my two hundred years, I’d never believed the stories. But now. I wasn’t so sure. Because whatever it was that lured me to her window—to her—was so strong I was powerless to fight it. I wondered if she felt the same.

She stirred slightly and I panicked, not sure if I should dematerialize or just stay still. I opted for the latter, mostly because I was frozen in fear that she would discover what a sick pervert I was. I hoped if I simply stayed still, she wouldn’t wake.

I was an intemperate imbecile to think I could stay away. I watched as she sighed heavily in her sleep. I wanted to stroke my fingers through the beautiful dark curls splaying across her pillow and brush the stray strands away from her bosom so I could feast upon her silky flesh. She was magnificent. There wasn’t another creature in the entire world so beautiful. It stole my breath to be so close to her.

I glanced around her room, wanting to take in as much of her surroundings as I could, to learn her likes and habits. The roses I’d sent sat on a desk next to a closed laptop. I knew there were many things I could learn about her from that laptop. That would be too much of a violation, though. Vampire or not, I did possess a few moral principles.

Magdalena.

Susan Griscom writes paranormal and contemporary romance. She's hooked on gritty romances and is a huge fan of superheroes and bad boys confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers, and abilities beyond the norm mixed with steamy romance, of course.

She loves those days when she gets to sit around in her sweat pants, doing nothing but writing emotionally charged stories about love and violence, and drinking coffee.
She lives in Northern California with her romantic husband and together they have five great superhero kids and eight mini-superhero grand kids, so far.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW & GIVEAWAY - Dying for a Bite by Marie Booth

Tour: Dying for a Bite by Marie Booth

Estelle’s a sweet Southern girl with lots of spirit but low self-esteem when it comes to her very curvy body. When she’s seduced and bitten by two of the sexiest, most desirable vampires in Shortfalls, Georgia, her sexuality’s coming alive for the first time. Thanks to the two sexy hunks she’s living with, she discovers her erogenous zones are her favorite highway to heaven. Could un-life get any better?
Nathaniel enjoyed seducing bloody gorgeous Estelle, but when her charms worked their magic on him, he lost control and bit her. Now he’s her maker, responsible for her training. While he plans to enjoy every minute of Estelle’s sexual instruction, particularly sharing her with the love of his life, Maurice, Maurice is not as enthusiastic. When Estelle intrudes on his perfect life with Nathan, Maurice is not happy. Sure, the woman’s body is easy to arouse and enjoy--he has to admit--but he’s now determined to take back control. The fangs are coming out and so are the cuffs. But when danger strikes their nest in the form of a rival gang, Estelle, Nathaniel and Maurice learn they’re bound together by more than sex and blood.

I found this to be an interesting paranormal story. Estelle is a sweet young woman, but she's got self-esteem issues because she's got some curves on her. It doesn't help matters that she's bridal dress shopping when her boyfriend has yet to propose to her. She meets Maurice and Nathaniel, vampires and lovers.

What starts as an innocent seduction goes awry when Nathaniel inadvertently bites Estelle and now she's got a whole new un-life to live. Maurice isn't happy with the turn (see what I did there?) of events, and we get to witness how the two will become three; but it's not a happy trio, as feelings of alienation and jealousy begin to surface, until they have to learn to function as a trio instead of Estelle and Maurice, or Estelle and Nathan.

While I liked the story overall, I would have preferred to have the some of the issues that popped up overlap each other, so we could get a true sense of how well the trio would come together to confront the issue head on. What we got was issue #1 would happen, the problem would be resolved. Then the next crisis and resolution, etc. To test the true dynamic of their relationship they should have had to deal with at least a couple of problems simultaneously. But that's just my tiny little humble opinion.

REVIEW:
This is a really entertaining story that had me hooked from the first page. Our intrepid heroine Dylan manages to learn about the existence of things that go bump in the night in a most unusual way, and then things really become interesting once she's in Florence, Italy and makes the acquaintance of Nico, and is having to learn how to wrap her mind around all of the changes that have been thrown her way and for the ultimate decision she'll need to make.

I liked how the vampire underworld is portrayed in this story, with the sovereigns and their leaders all over the world, and while this is a quick-moving story, we only get the bare bones when it comes to character development, but it's enough that makes you want to know them more and to figure out how everything will play out for Dylan. I have already pre-ordered the next book in this series, I can't wait to see what's in store for Dylan and her immersion into the world of the undead!
