Series or Standalone: Series
Genre: Paranormal
Synopsis:
Lily works the night shift at a radio station, taking calls from forlorn and damaged souls who can't sleep. She knows their pain and they find solace in her comforting words. The city is ruthless; nameless creatures roam the streets and prey on the lost and innocent.
As she leaves work one night at the crest of dawn, Lily comes face-to-face with depravity. She is a survivor at heart, but she is unfairly outnumbered and surrenders to her fate. From the shadows an ally emerges, the mysterious and alluring, Wolf. After coming to Lily's aid, he takes her to shelter.
The immediate danger has passed, but the incident is far from over. Wolf tells Lily she is not prey, and sets off into the night with her by his side to set a wrong right. What she sees when entering the dark heart of the city will change her existence forever. Has Wolf taken on a force too big? Will Lily survive the night?
Review:
Lily is a survivor in a world where she knows there are things that go bump in the night, until one early morning she's attacked by said bump in the night inhabitants. She's rescued by a mysterious man wearing a cowboy hat and boots and a black duster; another creature of the night by the name of Wolf.
Wolf, an alpha male of the highest degree, is a man of few words but all action, as is proven when he singlehandedly takes out Lily's attackers. Lily has no idea what to make of him, but she's drawn to him nonetheless. Imagine her outrage when she learns she's nothing more than a pawn used to draw out Wolf for reasons that have yet to be determined. Wolf explains that there are two types of people: predators and prey, and
tells Lily she's not prey.
There is a confrontation that occurs, and Lily comes to the realization that she is not, indeed the prey. There is also the beginning of a possible romance between Lily and Wolf and I can't wait to see how this will all play out in the subsequent books in the series.
