Oh my! This story pulled me in from the first page and didn't let go till I got to the end, and now I'm anxious that I have to wait a month to find out what's going to happen.
This starts with Laurie still dealing with the aftermath of a stunning betrayal, although it happened three months prior to the book's beginning. It's certainly easy to feel the emotions that Laurie is experiencing, from the obvious anger, to the disbelief and devastation of her life. Now, from the blurb, you already know that she meets one Liam Parker, and what went down while she was out of town. However, what was supposed to be only one night suddenly....wasn't.
And Laurie was blindsided six ways to Sunday when she returned home.
Again, I liked that you could feel the emotions that Laurie was experiencing, and hot damn the chemistry and smexy times between Laurie and Liam is incredible. I mean really, the smexy times are HAWT!!!! But at the same time, I would have liked to have seen a bit more interaction between Laurie and her husband, other than the sparing glimpses we get of them together. Honestly though, I thought James' reason was a cop-out. As long as he and Laurie have been together, he couldn't have just told her his feelings? But I guess if he did that, we wouldn't have this book to read lol.
I loved Laurie's friend Talia, although she isn't in the book that much either, but at least she doesn't judge Laurie for what went down while Laurie was in Chicago. As for Becky....well, read the book and judge that bitch for yourself.
As for the Liam arc of the story, it's going to be very interesting to see how this will all play out and whether or not he is as diabolical and cunning as he is at the end of this first book.
