Murdering a global icon was off limits, but his family was fair game.
The threats against me, the daughter of rock star Gideon Price, forced me closer to the man protecting me. I’d lost track of the number of secrets the men in my life had kept from me. But when the threat against my family turned to murder, it was time for me to learn the truth.
I was reminded once again just how short life could be, compelling me to take control of my future.
I was no longer in the dark, but I was in more danger than I ever imagined.
This is the second and concluding book in the VINTAGE series.
Lights blinded my eyes. They flashed down from the stage. One beam landed on me.
Were people taking pictures of me? It seemed like flashbulbs were exploding. I could feel George’s presence nearby, but I couldn’t feel much else.
My ears buzzed with a loud quiet, the kind of quiet that screams over everything else and blocks out all of the surrounding noise.
My mouth was dry, like the time in the fourth grade my friend dared me to eat three packages of crackers in sixty seconds.
Drier than that, even.
My eyes left Parker’s long enough to edge over to the screen displayed to the entire crowd at Raleigh’s Walnut Creek Amphitheater.
It was me. I was on the screen.
Surely I hadn’t heard him right. Had I?
Why the hell was I on the screen if I hadn’t heard him right?
My eyes moved back to Parker’s. They were pleading.
He still looked nervous. He looked terrified, actually. There was an amphitheater of at least fifteen thousand people waiting for my answer.
I loved this book! The chemistry and bond between Roxy and Parker is getting stronger, but since they each still have secrets, will their relationship flourish?
We do get to learn more about Parker in this installment, since he had an air of mystery about him in the first book. He seems to open up more in this book, now that he found his BAE in Roxy. And while this is a romance story, we've still got the mystery element happening in regards to Randy and his vendetta against Roxy and her family. And let's not forget that there is no love lost between Roxy and her new stepmom. But I loved the relationship between Roxy and her dad.
The writing is just as fluid in this book as it in the first, with consistency in the characters as well as the storyline itself. The ending seemed to be a bit rushed, but that doesn't really take away from the series overall. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, and can't wait to read more by Ms. Suzanne.
