BREAKING A LEGEND
Kavanagh Legends #1
Sarah Robinson
Released Sept 29th, 2015

Perfect for fans of Katy Evans and Monica Murphy, Sarah Robinson’s blistering-hot series debut introduces the Kavanagh brothers—mixed martial arts fighters who work hard, play hard, and love with all their hearts.

As one of the big names at his family’s gym, Legends, MMA star Rory Kavanagh is used to being in the spotlight—until a gruesome leg injury knocks him out of the cage. Rory is left feeling sidelined in more ways than one, battling the inner demons that come with losing the one shot at his dreams. Then Clare walks into his life and gives him a new dream: winning her heart. There aren’t many new faces in Woodlawn these days, but this tough, beautiful stranger makes Rory want to get his life back into fighting shape.

Clare Ivers doesn’t think she’ll be able to tell anyone what really brought her to the close-knit Bronx neighborhood where she just started bartending. But her life’s on pause and her past is catching up fast, try as she might to move on—with new friends, steady work, and a chiseled alpha male trying to get her attention. Even though Rory’s more than a little intense, she can’t deny that her heart beats faster when he looks at her with those soulful silver eyes. Clare thought she was done with love, but Rory might just be man enough to show her she thought wrong.

So, this was my first time reading anything by Sarah Robinson, and I'm so glad I got a chance to read her work, because I loved this story.

The once cocky Rory Kavanagh isn't handling life after his MMA career-ending injury well at all. He's merely existing day-to-day with drinking, pills and random, meaningless hookups. A stop at a local pub where he encounters a new employee just might be what Rory needs to get his life back on track.

I love Clare Ivers' character; as is so often the case in romance stories, one (or both) characters have some issue from their past that they desperately want to keep buried, and Clare is no exception. But she is running from something that needs to stay away, far away. But again, we know that's not the way romance stories work. Luckily, Clare isn't the type of female to slink off in a corner to lick her wounds, she's got plenty of sass about her and she's slightly sarcastic, but only in doses, so it's a good balance for a character. Nothing worse than a character who is sarcastic/bitchy/brooding/moody throughout the entire book.

The Kavanagh clan is fiercely loyal, loving and supportive of each other, and even though Rory hasn't been the easiest to deal with since his injury, they're always there for him. The chemistry between Rory and Clare is great, they make a good couple, even with the both of them fighting their own personal demons. A really good story with a good ending, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series and getting to know each of the Kavanagh men.
