Just going off the blurb, I wasn't quite sure what to expect with Lucy being on the run, so I was surprised to discover exactly why she's running. Totally understandable why she ran, but I found myself a bit taken aback by her age at the start of the book. Her age is most definitely a hindrance at the start of the book, but we get to see the change in the relationship between Lucy and Jordan over the years and that adds to the sexual tension between the two. I will say that when the all clear is given for them, it's all kinds of hot and smexy!
Without giving away too much, the story takes a dramatic turn 3/4 into the book. And by dramatic I mean it gets ugly. Disgusting and heartbreakingly ugly. I was equal parts incensed and dismayed as I read what was happening; how could anyone not be after reading what Lucy endured. And while I am all about authors showing a reader what happens versus just telling, this might have been the one instance in which I would have gladly accepted being told afterward what happened.
