Oh man, this is one of those books that pulled me almost immediately. I got so hooked on this story that all the plans and errands I had lined up got pushed back and rescheduled because I didn't want to stop reading. This is a story with quite a few twists and turns, and I found the plot to be unique (to me anyway). What started as a business arrangement gives way to a multitude of secrets and revelations, with an almost imperceptible mixture of paranormal (the story does take place in New Orleans, after all). I loved the character development, we get to witness the changes Melinda, Jack and Nathan experience as the story progresses, but almost at the same time you get the feeling that not all has been revealed, like you know there are still some layers that have not yet been uncovered. I experienced feelings of both anticipation and hesitancy at the same time, which sounds like one big oxymoron, but there you have it. I wanted to know what was going to happen but at the same time I was dreading what I might read lol. Even with those feelings, I'm already eager for the next part because I'm wondering what's going to happen.
