He was my everything.
I loved him.
For over twenty years.
And everyone knew, including him.
But he never loved me back.
Not once.
Not ever.
So I moved on.
Until now.
Now he's back, and wants to make me his.
He's everything I've ever wanted.
I should be happy.
But there's one problem.
My fiancé.

This was my first time reading anything by this author and while I enjoyed the story, it didn't pull me in enough to make me love it. The entire time I was reading I had the feeling that these were characters from perhaps a previous story, because of the way some information was relayed to the reader, it felt sort of like a reminder of that character's background, instead of more in-depth information.

I can certainly understand why Jake was reluctant to pursue Kacey, given his job situation, but we don't really know why Kacey is still so hung up on Jake for so long; I get the hero worship aspect from the prologue, but what was so amazing about him over the years that she shunned any type of relationship with a man? The engagement aspect didn't make much sense either; I can see if the couple was already dating and the decision is made to marry because of the parent's prognosis, but to just propose without the benefit of dating?

For me, the emotional aspect came towards the end of book in regards to Jake's friend Erik and that situation, I was really hoping that he and Jake's sister Reilly could have been a potential couple for a future book in the series, so now I'm wondering who her possible love connection will be. I've already got a feeling about Heath and his future lady love, and I can't wait to read his story to see if I'm right and how that will play out.
