I'm not going to lie: I did NOT like Eli for the first few chapters, he was Dr. Dicky McDoucheHead at first. Granted, while I've never experienced what both he and Gwen experienced, I sure as hell wouldn't blame the other innocent person who was also devastated like it was somehow their fault that my marriage didn't even happen. I was pretty sure there would be no redemption for me when it came to Eli after his behavior at the start of the book, but somehow he was written in a way that had me cheering for him by the end of the book.
