Synopsis: In places where the sun can hide, the darkest betrayals are made.
Violet Gallucci and Kazimir Markovic have grown up in the same city, but on opposite sides of the game they call life—Violet, an Italian principessa della mafia, and Kaz, a Russian Bratva heir. Lines have been drawn, and they know not to cross them.
Their paths crossed once, a long time ago, but when they meet again, the territory and rules set out by their families that have kept them separated seem to bleed away.
She’s more than her last name …
He’s more than a Russian …
But secrets from the past—and the people determined to keep them hidden—have other plans for Violet and Kaz.
Rival families.
One city.
Star-crossed lovers.
They should be enemies.
It could mean war.
This is just the beginning …
From authors Bethany-Kris (The Chicago War) and London Miller (Volkov Bratva) comes a thrilling, sexy new series—Seasons of Betrayal. Where the Russians and Italians clash in culture, mafia … and love.

If you haven't read Bethany-Kris' or London Miller's  mafia stories, you are doing yourself a disservice, because they know how to write mafia books that leave you anticipating the release of a new book, sheer excitement while reading said book, and breathless by the end of the story.

Only now, they've managed to up the ante on this genre with Violet's and Kaz's story, a mafia-type Romeo and Juliet. I love that Violet and Kaz already have a history together, going back to when they were kids, so that gives the story a sense of realism. Of course those around them when they were kids were of the thought that both Violet and Kaz would forget each other as they grew up.

Not even a chance! Only now, it's a hell of lot more dangerous for them to be together, but the heart wants who it wants, but is their love strong enough to overcome those inconsequential matters of, you know, being the children whose families are mortal enemies? Theirs is a taboo relationship, but it is so worth the time you'll probably stay up late reading because once you get started, you won't be able to stop.

Fair warning: if you don't like cliffhangers, it's probably best to wait until the other two books are released. I myself prefer to read a series once all the books are available, but if the next two books are anywhere close to this one, it's a good thing I'm reading them as they come out because I'm not sure my heart can take all that elevated heart rate. Whether you choose to read this now or later, I highly recommend this book/series!
