This book started off strong, I loved the family bond between Gabe and his cousins. Zoey is adorably awkward, but it works for her. The chemistry between Gabe and Zoey is pretty hot, and they seem to hit it off right from the start. They're both keeping their identities a secret from the other at first since they want the other to like them just for being them, not for who they are to the public. A good portion of the book is dedicated to the camp and we get to see their relationship flourish with the promise of continuing even after camp has concluded for the summer.

For me, the story seemed to take a strange turn at the end of the camp when a huge bombshell is dropped on everyone that directly affects both Gabe and Zoey. As for Gabe's reaction, I applaud his choices. What I didn't like was his pretty much giving Zoey an ultimatum. Yes, the news was shocking for everyone, but he could have at least looked at the situation from her perspective and realize how weird the whole scenario is and just give her the time to come to grips with the new trajectory of her life. In that aspect he came off as a total autocrat instead of just discussing her fears and worries. This arc to the story could have been more angsty if Gabe didn't seem to summarily dismiss Zoey's feelings about everything. I am looking forward to Reardon's and Chloe's story, especially given the bit of knowledge we learned about them in this story.
