This was my first Kim Carmichael book, and although I found it to start a bit slow, it began to pick up around chapter 4. There's a lot of history between Wynn and Garner, unfortunately the way they ended wasn't a happy end (what breakup is though?)
The chemistry is still between Wynn and Garner, although she cannot stand that he doesn't seem to take astronomy seriously, since he's currently touted as the face of astronomy in a pop culture type of way. Wynn is the type of person who takes her life's work very seriously, and has no use for those who seem to make a mockery of astronomy. Unfortunately for Wynn, she's not able to get the chance to study her absolute favorite part of her career: the moons of Mars. Her attempts are waylaid by her rather lengthy resume, being the renegade astronomer that she is, she doesn't hold a job for any length of time.
