If you haven't had a chance to read Bethany-Kris' mafia stories, you are missing out. The Marcellos make an appearance in another mafia romance series The Chicago Wars, but while the Chicago Wars centers different members of the Chicago Outfit, this series focuses on the brothers of one mafia family, the Marcellos. Each book focuses on one particular brother and the woman who has managed to capture his heart. But make no mistake, this isn't a romance with a mafia-element as a background, instead, this is more along the lines of the Godfather trilogy, in which the mafia is actually sharing the stage with the romance. And being involved with made men means there's a helluva lot more stress and tension to each relationship, but I loved getting to know the Marcello men and women who are strong enough to be able to be a part of their world.
Antony's story pretty much introduces the characters from each story and the dynamics of how they all converge and work together. Lucian's story is a bit unique in that he wasn't born into the Marcello family, but rather adopted as a child by Antony; his lady love is Jordyn and when I say their story is intense, believe it. Giovanni's story is one of forbidden love: he falls in love with the enemy's daughter. But we all know the heart wants who it wants, regardless of who their family is. And so what if she's engaged to someone else, if the marriage certificate hasn't been filed, love is still fair game! Dante's story is a bit lighter in that while he and Catrina are more than hot for each other, they attempt to keep it platonic. If they did that, what would be the point of the story? It's fun to see how they go about keeping it on just a friend level.
I cannot recommend this series enough, Bethany-Kris has a way with writing mafia/romance series and you can best believe that I will be eagerly anticipating the next series on the horizon.
